Fonterra’s Core sets the current standards for the Co-operative that ensures it meets the expectations of its customers, communities and regulators. It’s the company’s Terms of Supply, Farm Dairy Assessment, Farm Dairy Records and our Performance Management System that supports the farmer and protects the Co-op when things don’t go to plan. Their Next Steps is about getting ready for emerging issues that are either opportunities to create new value and/or risks to existing value. It recognizes those farmers who have already made changes and encourages every other member of the Co-op to follow.

Fonterra’s future looks to the longer term; providing guidance on what the future might look like beyond the Next Steps based on what the cooperative knows from its markets, communities and regulatory agencies, often talking about the untapped potential of milk because their scientists are finding new benefits from dairy all the time and they believe they have barely touched the surface. As a result of the goodness of milk, Fonterra believes dairy is well placed to play an important role in helping feed the world’s growing population and by 2030, there will be another 1 billion mouths to feed. Fonterra’s dairy products aims to play a valuable role in addressing deficiencies in diets and improving the health and wellbeing of people around the world.

The company has 30 manufacturing sites in New Zealand and 6 in Australia. It also has manufacturing sites in Brazil, Chile, China, Indonesia and Malaysia which collectively supplies its products to 130 countries around the world.
